Yasmin was born in Gloucester, UK. An artist of Islamic origins, Yasmin uses traditional Islamic materials, methods and techniques dating back thousands of years. Her work is inspired by the spiritualism of the Islamic faith as expressed through geometric precision and symmetry. Y.K specialises in glass, ceramics and gesso within the context of architectural interior design.   Her work is both decorative and functional in design.  Her aim is to bring beauty into the home in order to create a peaceful, harmonious and tranquil environment. Yasmin's work masterfully combines both the traditional aspects of Islamic art and those associated with modern living in the 21st Century. In 2008, having spent many years as a GP, Yasmin graduated with a Masters Degree in Visual Islamic and Traditional Art from The Princes School of Traditional Art in London. Upon graduation, Y.K's work was exhibited at the Prince’s Foundation Summer Exhibition in London.  Also, the Museum of Islamic Art of Malaysia acquired two of her pieces entitled Shamsa and The Breath of the Compassionate.  In August 2008, Yasmin exhibited her work at Clarence House, London, the private London residence of HRH Prince of Wales.  Examples of Yasmin's stucco carvings will be on public display in the Traditional Arts Exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art of Malaysia and the Gloucester City Museum and Art Gallery will feature some of her works as part of its special exhibition entitled ‘Islamic Awareness’.
