Lateefa is an artist based in London. Having grown up in New Mexico, Jordan, Granada, England and Morocco, and been born into the sometimes contradictory world of a British/American Muslim convert family, she has been given a unique outlook on life. Lateefa is an artist based in London. Lateefa has a keen interest in the challenges of being a human being in the present age. The contradictions of traditional teaching and modern thought, the question of identity and belonging, the controversy around the concept of beauty are all issues she likes to try and tackle. Always finding tranquility in the ever-constant natural world of plants, animals and the universe Lateefa finds inspiration in growth patterns and natures rhythms which has led to a fascination with the sacred geometry and biomorphic design used in traditional Islamic art and architecture. Lateefa tries to create pieces of work that first please the eye and Spirit, and on further investigation encourage different ways of looking and thinking. Lateefa particularly enjoys the challenge of making a stimulating concept into a visual piece of art.

Lateefa joined The Princes Foundation in the Building Arts course in 2000, continued onto a degree course in painting at Northumbria University, after which she lived and studied in Cairo, Morocco and Andalusia. In 2006 she returned to the United Kingdom and since then has been working and collaborating with craftsman and sculptor Adam  on many commissions. Lateefa currently works from her studio in East London. Her work covers a large spectrum of activities, from prints to large mural paintings, garden and interior design, and workshops.
